Handling & storage
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from ignition sources. HDPE granules are chemically inert under normal ambient conditions and classified as non-hazardous in solid form; however, avoid prolonged exposure to temperatures above 80 °C, which may cause softening or agglomeration. Keep bags sealed when not in use to prevent moisture uptake and contamination. No special first-aid or PPE requirements beyond standard industrial hygiene practices (dust mask if handling in bulk). What is the melt flow index of these HDPE granules and why does it matter for blow moulding?
The MFI is 0.8 g/10 min at 190 °C under a 5 kg load. A lower MFI indicates higher molecular weight and greater melt strength, which is suitable for blow moulding processes where the parison must hold its shape before the mould closes.
Are these reprocessed granules consistent enough for industrial drum production?
Reprocessed HDPE granules derived from Reliance blue drum scrap retain the base polymer characteristics required for blow-moulded containers. Batch-to-batch variation in colour uniformity and impact properties is expected compared to virgin material. A Certificate of Analysis for each lot is recommended before production trials.
